Carl Bevers (died 1968) was a New Orleans bootlegger associated with the Marcano crime family.
Biography[]
Carl Bevers was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, and he became involved with the moonshine racket during the 1960s. Bevers became an associate of Marcano crime family caporegime Roman Barbieri, giving a cut of his earnings to him every week. In 1968, Lincoln Clay came after Bevers, hoping to weaken Barbieri's rackets; he destroyed Bevers' alcohol stores before heading to the Sweetwater Distillery to take care of Bevers. Clay killed all of the guards defending the moonshine racket before shooting and grabbing Bevers, who insulted Clay's ally Thomas Burke. Clay told him that he talked too much, and he stabbed him in the chest with a knife, killing him.
