Cardinal Morosini (died 1559) was the Papal legate to the Kingdom of France from 1558. He was sent to meet with King Henry II of France to renegotiate leases on the Pope's tendencies in France, but King Henry snubbed him by not visiting him for a week. Mary, Queen of Scots and Dauphin France decided to meet Morosini in Henry's place, and Mary danced with the Cardinal in order to convince him to agree to a deal in Henry's name. In 1559, during a resurgence of the Black Death, Morosini's throat was slit and his home robbed by looters who used the plague to justify their crimes.
