The Capture of the Capricieux (1735) was a naval action of the Maroon Rebellion that occurred off the coast of Port Antonio, Jamaica when the Maroon pirate Adewale captured the slave ship Capricieux and sunk its three escorts. Adewale succeeded in sinking the man o'war Triomphe and the brigs Saint-Espirit and Lion d'Or before boarding the slave ship, and the Maroons assaulted its crew with vigor. Captain Ignace Couvreur was forced to surrender, and Adewale liberated 90 slaves and recruited 7 Maroons; by this point, Adewale alone had liberated a total of 360 slaves and recruited 40 Maroons to his cause.
