Cannabaudes (died 271) was the King of the Goths during the late 3rd century AD.
Biography[]
Cannabaudes was the son of the Gothic king Cniva, who defeated the Roman emperor Decius at the Battle of Abrittus. While the Roman emperor Aurelian fought against Claudius Gothicus' brother Quintillus in Italy, Cannabaudes led the Goths in devastating the Roman provinces of the lower Danube and sacking some cities. On his march to the east to reconquer the Palmyrene Empire, Aurelian drove the Goths out of his empire and followed them over the Danube, killing Cannabaudes and 5,000 of his men in battle.
