Candice DeNunzio was born in New York City, New York to a family of Sicilian descent, and she later became a madame under the Barzini crime family. She ran a prostitution racket from the second floor of Madame Polly's in Midtown Manhattan, and Corleone crime family associate Aldo Trapani forced her to pay protection money to the Corleones in August 1945.
