Canaan was the son of Ham, the grandson of Noah, and the father of the Canaanites. His father once saw Noah passed out, naked and drunk, and told his brothers; Noah found out about Ham's transgression and decided to curse Canaan and his descendants with being slaves. Canaan was given the lands between Lebanon and Egypt, which became known as Canaan. He was said to have married Arsal, and they fathered the sub-Saharan Africans and the Ethiopians.
