
Camilo Ponce Enriquez (31 January 1912-13 September 1976) was President of Ecuador from 1 September 1956 to 31 August 1960, interrupting Jose Maria Velasco Ibarra's terms.
Biography[]
Camilo Ponce Enriquez was born in Quito, Ecuador in 1912, and he became a supporter of Jose Maria Velasco Ibarra and came in third place in the 1948 presidential election. In 1951, he and Sixto Duran Ballen cofounded the Social Christian Party of Ecuador, and Ponce served as President from 1956 to 1960. He again came in third place in the 1968 election, and he died in 1976.
