Camilla, Duchess of Crotone

Camilla, Duchess of Crotone was an American-born Italian aristocrat. Born to a wealthy Yankee family, she married the impoverished Duke of Crotone, settling in Sicily. While her husband used her money to vacation in Paris, Camilla had numerous affairs, including with prince Sandro Borsa. Camilla had liberal views on the land rights of Sicilian peasants, believing that the aristocracy should let the peasants utilize their uncultivated land. In 1944, the bandit Salvatore Giuliano robbed Borsa's estate as Camilla ate with the guests, and Camilla seduced Giuliano and "raped" him in a bid to keep her jewels; however, Giuliano still took her jewelry before leaving.
