Camden Town, better known simply as Camden, is a district of north west London, England and one of 35 major centers in Greater London. Camden was laid out as a residential district from 1791, and it became an important location during the early development of the railways, which reinforced its position on the London canal network. Its industrial economic base was later replaced by service industries such as retail, tourism, and entertainment. In 2016, Camden had a population of 246,200 people.
