Caledones

The Caledones were a Celtic tribal confederacy in Scotland during the Roman era. Their name means "steadfast" in Brittonic, and they were described as red-haired and loose-jointed. In 83 AD, their king Calgacus was defeated by the Roman general Gnaeus Julius Agricola at Mons Graupus. In 180 AD, they took part in an invasion of Britannia, breaching Hadrian's Wall. The Caledones warred with the Roman Empire for several centuries, and they went on to evolve into the Picts.
