Calabria is a region in southern Italy, with Catanzaro serving as its capital. It consists of the "toe" of the "Boot of Italy", and half of the region is hilly. The region includes the cities of Cosenza, Paola, Scalea, Castrovillari, Trebisacce, Corigliano Calabro, Cariati, Ciro Marina, Crotone, Isola di Capo Rizzuto, Vibo Valentia, Siderno, Reggio Calabria, Gioia Tauro, Trope, and Lamezia Terme. In 2014, the region had a population of 1,980,533 people.
