Cal Rumley (1944-) was the President of the United States from 20 January 2010.
Biography[]
Cal Rumley was born in Springfield, Massachusetts in 1944, and he became a well-known comedian before entering politics as a Republican. He obtained his party's nomination for President in 2010, running on a conservative platform. The Great Recession left the Democrats unpopular, even as the economy recovered, enabling Rumley to defeat Democrat Ed Reamer by a margin of 342-196 in the electoral college. Rumley won the swing states of New Hampshire, Maine, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, North Carolina, Florida, New Mexico, Arizona, and Nevada. At the same time, the Republicans swept the congressional elections, winning 55.57% of the vote and 338/435 House of Representatives seats, while the Democrats won 34.94% and 62/435 seats; in the Senate, the Republicans won 52.74% of the vote and 72/100 seats, while the Democrats won 37.35% and 28/100 seats in the Democrats' worst electoral performance since Reconstruction.
