Cal Newington

Cal Newington (1851-1898) was an American settler who moved from Tumbleweed, Arizona to Socorro, New Mexico in 1898. Escorted by the hired gun Arizona Kid, Newington and his friend Bud Hoover drove a caravan from Tumbleweed to Fort Mercer, braving several outlaw ambushes along the way. Newington was shot dead in one of the ambushes, but Arizona took over his wagon and escorted Hoover to the fort, where he was greeted by US Army private Nicholas Symes.
