Biography[]

Caelan Dixon was born in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England on 18 July 1945. The son of an Anglican father and a Catholic mother, Dixon became an agnostic during his university years, during which time he was also a Labour Party supporter. Dixon became an academic, serving as an environmental science professor and as a political theory professor. Dixon was an avowed socialist, and, following the triumph of New Labour in the 1997 general election, Dixon and several other disaffected leftists joined the recently-formed Green Party. Dixon retired from his professorship in 2010 and, in 2013, he ran for the Bromland Town Council as a Green candidate. He and local Green leader Loknath Kotecha became the first two Greens ever elected to the Bromland Town Council on 7 April 2013. He lost re-election to Lib Dem Aubrey Lawson in 2019.
