Phillip Jack Brooks (born 26 October 1978), better known by his ring name CM Punk, was an American mixed martial artist, comic book writer, and professional wrestler. Born in Chicago, Illinois in 1978, and raised in nearby Lockport, he wrestled from 1999 to 2014, and he won several WWE championships. His wrestling character's straight edge views on not drinking alcohol or taking drugs were his real-life views, and he endorsed Democratic Party presidential nominee Barack Obama in 2008 and was a strong gay rights advocate.
