The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) is a unified combatant command of the US Military that was formed in 1983, being responsible for North Africa, the Middle East, and Central Asia, the "center" areas of the globe. Its headquarters was MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida, with a forward headquarters at al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar, and CENTCOM was responsible for conducting operations during the Iraq War and Afghanistan War.
