The CAR-15 Commando, also called the XM177, was a variation of the CAR-15 rifle used by the military of the United States during the Vietnam War from the late 1960s to the early 1970s.

The Colt Commando was purchased en masse by the United States military following 28 June 1966, when 2,815 of them were sold to the US Army. It had an 11.5-inch barrel, and the gun was compact. 510 Commandos were bought for MACV-SOG during the Vietnam War, and the CAR-15 Commando was employed by SOG during their operations against the North Vietnamese Army (NVA). In 1970, as the United States' involvement in Vietnam was winding down, production of the Commando ended.
