Byward Street is a road in the City of London district of London, England. It was built from 1895 to 1906, replacing the older Black Swan Court. It provided access to the Crown Gate of the Byward Tower (which was "by the ward", the Warders' Hall), hence its name, and it is located near Tower Hill.
