The Buryats are the largest indigenous group in Siberia, mainly concentrated in Buryatia, a federal subject of Russia. In 2018, the world population of Buryats was 525,000, with 461,389 living in Russia, 45,087 in Mongolia, and 10,000 in China. The majority of Buryats were Buddhists, while Orthodox Christianity and shamanism were other faiths.
