History[]

The original streets of the neighborhood (Ridgewood Street, Dane Street, Oak Street, North Street) belonged to the Town of Madison. The Burr Oaks Golf Course existed south of Ridgewood Street.

In 1961, Burr Oaks Bowl was built.

In the 1960s, the golf course was disbanded, and the area was developed into a new neighborhood development by the City of Madison. The streets in the new development were named for trees. Lincoln Junior High School opened in 1965.

In 1980, Lincoln Middle School became an elementary school and got paired with Midvale Elementary School on Madison's west side. Midvale serves grades K-2 and Lincoln serves grades 3-5. However, both schools offer 4K.
