Buffalo Bill was an american soldier who ran a Wild West Show. Bill earned the nickname "Buffalo Bill" after the American Civil War, when he had a
contract to supply Kansas Pacific Railroad workers with buffalo meat. Cody is rumored to have killed 4,282 buffalo in eighteen months in 1867 and 1868. During the American Civil War, he served the Union from 1863 to 1865. Later he served as a civilian scout for the US Army during the Indian Wars, receiving the Medal of Honor in 1872.
Buffalo Bill's Wild West show[]
Bill was known mostly worldwide for his Wild West show, a touring show which traveled around the United States, Great Britain, and Continental Europe. Audiences were enthusiastic about seeing a piece of the American West. Some of the people featured in his show were Annie Oakley and Texas Jack Omohundro.
His death[]
Bill died of Kidney failure while visiting his sister in Denver. He now rests peacefully at Lookout Mountain , the place he died, in the States.
