Buddy MacKay

Kenneth Hood "Buddy" MacKay (22 March 1933-) was a member of the US House of Representatives (D-FL 6) from 3 January 1983 to 3 January 1989 (succeeding Bill Young and preceding Cliff Stearns) and Governor of Florida from 12 December 1998 to 5 January 1999 (succeeding Lawton Chiles and preceding Jeb Bush).

Biography[]

Kenneth Hood MacKay was born in Ocala, Florida in 1933, and he served in the US Air Force in the 1950s before becoming a lawyer. He served in the State House from 1968 to 1974, in the State Senate from 1974 to 1980, in the US House of Representatives from 1983 to 1989, as Lieutenant Governor from 1991 to 1998, and as Governor from 1998 to 1999 on Governor Lawton Chiles' death.
