Brycheiniog, also known as Brechinauc or Brecknock, was a medieval Welsh petty kingdom which existed in South Wales from 450 to 1045, with Talgarth serving as its capital. It was once the Roman province of Demetia, and it was founded by Brychan Brycheiniog in 450 AD following the fall of Roman Britain. It was conquered and pacified by the Normans from 1088 to 1095 during the English conquest of Wales, but it remained Welsh in character and later became the region of Brecknockshire.
