The Bryansk Front was an army group of the Soviet Red Army that existed from August 1941 to 10 October 1943. Andrei Yeremenko was its first commander, and Yakov Cherevichenko and Markian Popov would later take command of the front. The front broke out of the German encirclement at the Battle of Moscow and took part in the fighting of 1942 and 1943, liberating Bryansk in August-September 1943. On 10 October 1943, the front was incorporated into the new 1st Belorussian Front, while the headquarters became the 2nd Baltic Front.
