Brother Hubert (died 892) was a West Saxon Catholic priest from the town of Alton. In 892, Sigurd Bloodhair's Vikings razed Alton, and Sigurd's seer Skade had the priests tortured and burned to death after they said that they had no silver. Bloodhair then made an offer to Hubert: Hubert would have to kill himself and thereby save his fellow priests if he told the truth about the silver, but, when Hubert still claimed that there was no silver, and that he would be tormented if he committed suicide, Bloodhair left the priests to Skade. Skade then disemboweled Hubert and took out his heart.
