Britney Jean Spears (born 2 December 1981) was an American singer-songwriter who was known as a pop idol and top-selling artist during late 1990s and 2000s. Born in McComb, Mississippi, she signed with Jive Records in 1997, and she revived teen pop during the late 1990s and early 2000s, being nicknamed the "Princess of Pop" as a result. Spears was a notable Republican celebrity, supporting George W. Bush and the Iraq War; she asked people to support every decision that he made.
