Brison (died 431 BC) was a member of the Delian League branch of the Cult of Kosmos.

Biography[]

Brison was the son of a rich Athenian artist, and he was seen by many as a weakling who was both "too pretty" and "too rich", and others easily exploited him. In the Cult of Kosmos, he saw an opportunity to change others' perceptions, and he sought to be strong, feared, and respected. He pledged that he would torture and kill every person who stood against the Cult. In 431 BC, during a Cult meeting in Delphi, The Monger tortured Brison until he agreed to kill the Athenian sculptor Phidias, but the disguised mercenary Kassandra witnessed the torture, and she ultimately helped Phidias escape from Athens. Phidias' friend Theras on Seriphos intercepted a letter from Brison confirming his role in the plot against Phidias, so Kassandra decided to head to the quarry on the island of Salamis to kill Brison. Kassandra climbed down a cliff, snuck up on Brison as he napped, and plunged her blades into his chest, killing him in his sleep.
