Brian Higgins

Brian Higgins (6 October 1959-) was a member of the US House of Representatives (D-NY 27) from 3 January 2005 to 3 January 2013 (succeeding Jack Quinn and preceding Chris Collins) and from NY 26 from 3 January 2013 to 2 February 2024 (succeeding Kathy Hochul and preceding Tim Kennedy).

Biography[]

Brian Higgins was born in Buffalo, New York in 1959, and served on the Buffalo Common Council from 1988 to 1993, becoming known as Buffalo's best lawmaker. He served in the New York General Assembly from 1999 to 2004, when he was elected to the US House of Representatives as a Democratic Party member. He was a pro-union moderate, and he was a member of the centrist New Democrats. He resigned in 2024 due to his impatience with the growing dysfunction in Congress.
