The 18th Mechanized Cavalry Regiment is a regiment of the Brazilian Army, created in December 2023 amid the 2023 Guayana Esequiba crisis. The regiment was originally planned to be activated in 2026, but it was created from the pre-existing Brazilian 12th Mechanized Cavalry Squadron amid a Brazilian mobilization in preparation for a Venezuelan invasion of Guyana. 600 soldiers were added to the newly-created 18th Cavalry Regiment, while an armored task force composed of 28 armored vehicles was assembled. Based at Boa Vista, the regiment was dispatched to assist Guyana against an impending Venezuelan invasion.
