Boyle is a town in County Roscommon, Ireland. Boyle was the site of the Battle of Curlew Pass on 15 August 1599, one of the two worst defeats suffered by the English during the Tudor conquest of Ireland. Boyle suffered hardship from 1847 to 1849 during the Great Famine, and the town elected Sinn Fein's first MP, George Noble Plunkett, in 1917. In 2016, Boyle had 2,568 residents.
