The Boulevard de la Madeleine is a street which forms the boundaries of the 1st arrondissement with the 8th and 9th arrondissements of Paris, France. It was created on the site of King Louis XIII of France's enclosure on its demolition in 1670, and it was renamed to the "Boulevard Cerutti" during the French Revolution as part of the revolutionary government's policy of secularism. During the July Revolution of 1830, the Boulevard de la Madeleine was the scene of confrontation between insurgents and the army.
