The Bosonids were a dynasty from southern France that ruled the County of Arles, Provence, and even the Kingdom of France at one point. In 875, Boso V of Arles was appointed Viceroy of Italy by Charles the Bald, and in 879 he proclaimed himself King of Provence. Some of his descendants, such as Hugh of Provence and Lothair of Arles, would rule the Kingdom of Italy. The family would die out in the 10th century.
