Borough High Street is a road in Southwark, London running south-west from London Bridge. Before the building the Westminster Bridge, Borough High Street was the only connection from the south bank of the River Thames to the City of London, and it was home to many coaching inns due to its status as a major communications node for traffic between London and Portsmouth.
