The Boricua Popular Army (EPB), also known as Los Macheteros, is a clandestine socialist revolutionary organization in Puerto Rico and the United States that supports the independence movement in Puerto Rico. Founded in 1976 as the successor to the FALN, the EPB had an average of two actions per year, taking part in terrorist attacks against the USA in both Puerto Rico and stateside. In 1978, the EPB bombed a San Juan power station, and their actions included 1979 retaliatory attacks against US Army personnel, 1981 attacks on national guard aircraft, and a 1983 Wells Fargo bank robbery. The group was led by Filiberto Ojeda Rios until his extrajudicial killing in 2005, and the group has between 1,100 and 5,700 members in various cells.
