Bonifacio Elias (22 September 1929-14 December 2015) was a Cuban writer who was forced into exile in the United States during the reign of Fidel Castro.
Biography[]
Bonifacio Elias was born on 22 September 1929 in Havana, Cuba. He was trained as a dentist, coming from a wealthy family of plantation owners, and his family was forced to flee to the United States due to the Cuban Revolution in 1959. Elias moved to Miami, Florida, and he lived in the Little Havana neighborhood with other Cuban refugees. Elias was a writer for a Spanish-language magazine for Cuban exiles in Miami, and he remained a voice of the dissident movement until his death in 2015.
