Boltan

Boltan (died 884) was a Danish Viking warrior during the late 9th century. He served under the brothers Erik and Sigefrid Thurgilsson at the time of their capture of London in 884, and, in 886, he was asked to duel against Father Pyrlig, a priest who sought to fight for his freedom. Pyrlig, a former warrior, performed poorly at first, but ultimately held Boltan at swordpoint after knocking him to his knees. Pyrlig spared Boltan, saying that he might have had a mother who loved him, but Sigefrid - angered about Pyrlig's victory - slashed Boltan's throat with a knife before confronting Pyrlig.
