Bolo

Bolo (died 1878) was a Chinese-American triad gangster who was affiliated with the Hop Wei Tong in San Francisco during the 1870s. He worked as a coolie in Utah during the 1860s, helping to build the First Transcontinental Railroad before becoming a prizefighter and earning the nickname "the Yellow Demon." He was recruited by tong boss Father Jun, becoming one of his most fearless hatchet men. He and Young Jun rescued Father Jun from an assassination attempt at a Chinatown parade in 1878, after which he was sent to hunt down Long Zii and Mai Ling of the rival Long Zii Tong. However, Mai Ling's brother and Bolo's rival Hop Wei member Ah Sahm challenged Bolo, with Ah Sahm defeating Bolo and Mai Ling killing him and hanging his body for all of Chinatown to see.
