
Robert Joseph Miller (30 March 1945-) was the Democratic Governor of Nevada from 3 January 1989 to 4 January 1999, succeeding Richard Bryan and preceding Kenny Guinn.
Biography[]
Robert Joseph Miller was born in Chicago, Illinois and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada. He served in the US Army Reserve from 1967 to 1973 ad in the US Air Force Reserve before serving as Clark County Deputy District Attorney from 1971 to 1973, as Clark County District Attorney from 1979 to 1986, as Lieutenant Governor of Nevada from 1987 to 1989, and as Governor of Nevada from 1989 to 1999 after Governor Richard Bryan was elected to the US Senate. Miller was a popular governor, winning re-election in a landslide in 1994. He retired in 1998 due to term limits, and he worked as a business consultant in Henderson after leaving office.
