Bob Graham

Daniel Robert "Bob" Graham (9 November 1936-16 April 2024) was the Democratic Governor of Florida from 2 January 1979 to 3 January 1987 (succeeding Reubin Askew and preceding Wayne Mixson) and a US Senator from 3 January 1987 to 3 January 2005 (succeeding Paula Hawkins and preceding Mel Martinez). He was the father of Gwen Graham.

Biography[]

Daniel Robert Graham was born in Coral Gables, Florida in 1936, and he became a lawyer in 1962. He served in the State House from 1966 to 1970, in the State Senate from 1970 to 1978, as Governor from 1979 to 1987, and in the US Senate from 1987 to 2005. He pioneered his state's education system, added 1.2 million jobs to his state, supported environmentalist policies, and led the joint congressional investigation into 9/11 as a Senator.
