Bob Gardner soldier

Bob Gardner (1945 - September 1967) was a US Army private during the Vietnam War.

Biography[]

Bob Gardner served as a private in Bravo Company, US 25th Infantry Division during the Vietnam War, arriving in Vietnam in September 1967. He and PFC Chris Taylor were the newest members of the squad when they took part in patrols along the Cambodian border, and the other squad members made fun of Gardner, calling him "fatty" and "bubble butt". He showed a picture of his girlfriend Lucy Jean to Taylor before the two of them went on patrol, and Gardner was attached to Sergeant Elias Gordon's squad. Gardner was killed when the NVA ambushed Bravo Company, while Taylor was wounded.
