The Blue Ridge Mountains is a mountain range that stretches 550 miles southwest from southern Pennsylvania through Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Georgia. The mountains were named for the blue haze caused by the trees' release of isoprene into the air.
