Bloc Quebecois is a social democratic and Quebec nationalist political party in the Canadian province of Quebec. The party consisted of Quebecois nationalist dissidents from the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada and the Liberal Party of Canada, and the party held social democratic and separatist views. The party was the largest in Quebec and the second or third-largest party in the House of Commons between 1993 and 2011, and the party lost support as the New Democratic Party gained widespread support in Quebec during the 2011 elections. The party instead found its support among conservative rural voters and left-wing organized labor activists, and it maintained informal ties with the Parti Quebecois.
