Bletchley is a town in Buckinghamshire, England, located in the southwest of Milton Keynes. Known to the Anglo-Saxons as Blechelegh, meaning "Blaecca's clearing", its parish of Fenny Stratford ("marshy ford on a Roman road") was home to the Romano-British settlement of Magiovinium on Watling Street. It grew from an obscure hamlet on the road from Fenny Stratford to Buckingham with the arrival of the London and North Western Railway in 1845. In 1883, the country house of Bletchley Park was built in Bletchley, and it became the principal center of Allied codebreaking during World War II through its production of "Ultra" intelligence. Bletchley became a suburb of the "new town" of Milton Keynes during the 1970s, and, in 2011, Bletchley had a population of 37,114 people.
