Blackfriars Bridge

The Blackfriars Bridge is a road and foot traffic bridge over the River Thames in London, between Waterloo Bridge and Southwark Bridge, carrying the A201 road. The first bridge was built from 1760 to 1769, opening on 19 November 1769; its workmanship was very faulty, and extensive repairs occurred between 1833 and 1840. On 6 November 1869, a new bridge was built. In June 1982, the bridge became notorious when the body of Roberto Calvi was found hanging from the bridge with five bricks and around $14,000 in different pockets; initially ruled a suicide, his death was later discovered to have been a Mafia hit.
