The Black Watch, 3rd Battalion, Royal Regiment of Scotland is a Highlander battalion of the British Army's Royal Regiment of Scotland. Founded in 1881, the Black Watch continued the legacy of the 42nd Regiment of Foot, and it served in the Anglo-Egyptian War, the Mahdist War, the Second Boer War, the Western Front and Mesopotamia campaign of World War I, the Western and North African fronts of World War II, the Korean War, the Troubles, and the Iraq War.
