Black Fist was a fictitious Black Power organization which was set up by the Russian Internet Research Agency in January 2017. The group's tagline was "Be ready to protect your rights... Let them know that black power matters", and it purported to offer free self-defense classes to African-Americans in New York, Florida, California, Michigan, and other parts of the United States. However, it was created with the goal of stoking fear and gathering the contact information of Americans potentially susceptible to Russian propaganda. Black Fist operated on multiple social media platforms, and it was closed in August 2017 after it was found to be a part of a Russian ploy.
