Billy Wayne "Coach" Montgomery (7 July 1937-April 2025) was a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives (D-9) from 1988 to 14 January 2008, succeeding Jesse C. Deen and preceding Henry Lee Burns. Raised in Provencal, Natchitoches Parish, he served in the US Army from 1959 to 1964 before serving as head coach at Haughton High School and as an assistant principal and principal. An advocate of higher education, he went on to serve in the state house as a Democrat before defecting to the Republican Party in 2006. He died in 2025 at the age of 87.
