Billy Deverell

William Raymond "Billy" Deverell (14 February 1937-1 July 1981) was Ron Launius' right-hand man and the co-leader of the Wonderland Gang. He was one of four people to be murdered by Eddie Nash's men during the 1981 Wonderland murders.

Biography[]

William Raymond Deverell was born on 14 February 1937, and he was lured into the drug world by promises of easy money; he would experience periods of self-loathing for his actions, and he would often consider quitting dealing and using drugs. However, he became Ron Launius' right-hand man in the Wonderland Gang of Laurel Canyon, Los Angeles. Deverell worked as an overhead crane operator by day, but he was also a heavy heroin user and criminal. In 1981, he took part in the robbery of Eddie Nash's home with the goal of obtaining drugs and drug money, leading to his death in the 1 July 1981 Wonderland murders. His friend John C. Holmes got Deverell to buzz him into the apartment, and Nash's henchmen then entered the building, beating Deverell and three others dead with striated lead pipes.
