William Francis Degan (1950-21 August 1992) was a US Marshal who, on 21 August 1992, was killed by Kevin Harris during the Ruby Ridge standoff at a cabin near Naples, Idaho. He was part of a six-man team sent to apprehend Randy Weaver for failing to show up at a court date, and the Marshals killed the Weaver's family dog after it alerted the family of the agents' presence. The agents killed 14-year-old Samuel Weaver when he started shooting at the agents for killing the dog, but Harris mortally wounded Degan, who died minutes later.
