Billy Adams

William Herbert "Billy" Adams (15 February 1861-4 February 1954) was the Democratic Governor of Colorado from 11 January 1927 to 10 January 1933, succeeding Clarence Morley and preceding Edwin C. Johnson.

Biography[]

William Herbert Adams was born in Blue Mounds, Wisconsin in 1861, the brother of Alva Adams and the uncle of Alva B. Adams, and he moved to Alamosa, Colorado at the age of 17 and served as city treasurer and mayor before serving as Conejos County commissioner. In 1886, he was elected to the State House, and, from 1888 to 1926, he served in the State Senate. Adams was elected Governor of Colorado in 1926 as a Democrat, and he served until 1933; he died in 1954.
